Dedicated Funds distributing grants Autumn 2025

If you wish, you can select up to three dedicated funds for your grant application. The choice of a dedicated fund does not exclude the possibility of receiving grants from other funds. It is not mandatory to select a specific Fund when applying.

Funds are grouped by discipline. A description of the purpose for which grants may be awarded is given after the name of the fund. Undergraduate students can apply for grants from certain dedicated funds, which are highlighted in underlining.

  • Turku Ekotori Fund Research on circular economy, behaviour of households and research on the social, economical and regional effects of employment promoting work. The grants are directed for pro gradu thesis mainly
  • Turku Chamber of Commerce Cultural Fund Developing the operating conditions of the Turku economic area’s business life, increasing the region’s cultural offering, promoting connections between culture and business, and promoting domestic and international cultural exchange
  • Eeva Matinolli Fund  Finnish history research
  • Erkki Asp Scholarship Fund  Young researchers on the field of sociology and researcher mobility
  • Matti Koivurinta Fund  Research on the field of urban cultural tradition and archaeology
  • Tauno Nurmela Memorial Fund  Research on the field of Romance philology and other activities
  • Timo Soikkanen Fund  Forcosts (such as research trips, inter-library loans, material costs and other costs) of pro gradu theses in the subject of political science  
  • Tutoris Fund  Research in logopedics
  • Kauko Mansikka Memorial Fund  Supporting the research or doctoral studies of young theoretical physicists
  • Kevo Fund  Travel and research grants for working at Kevo, organisation of international courses at Kevo
  • Leo Takalon rahasto Astronomical research. Scholarships are available to postgraduate students who have completed a Master’s degree at the University of Turku and are Finnish citizens.
  • The Archipelago Research Institute Seili Fund  Baltic Sea and archipelago research, teaching at the University, University’s social influencing, equipment procurements and maintenance in the Archipelago Research Institute.
  • Veikko Nurmikko Fund  Research performed by doctoral candidates on the fields of biochemistry, food chemistry and biotechnology
  • Aarre and Rakel Aalto Fund  Research on internal diseases, particularly cancer and vascular diseases
  • Allan Aho Fund for Orthopaedics and Traumatology  Research related to orthopaedics, traumatology and bone tumours
  • Anna-Liisa Holvimaa Fund  Cancer research, formedical students or young researchers
  • Antero Kasanen Fund  Research of internal diseases (kidney diseases in particular) and medical ethics
  • Erkki Tammisalo Fund  Research on the field of dental diagnostics
  • John Pelander Fund  Research on cardiovascular diseases
  • Clinical Virology Research Fund  Meetings and congresses on the field of clinical virology
  • Kosti Hämmärö Fund  Research performed by the researchers of the Faculty of Medicine
  • Leila and Reijo Alho Fund Medicine, particularly vascular diseases, early diagnostics of lung cancer
  • Martta and Uno Pikarla Fund  Supporting the work of young researchers on the field of internal medicine in Finland and abroad
  • Pekka and Pellervo Halme Fund Research on cardiovascular diseases and diabetes
  • Pirkko-Liisa ja Jouni Peltonen Fund  Research on inherited eye diseases and diseases resulting from disorders of the autoimmune system (e.g. rheumatism)
  • Nordic Surgery Cooperation Fund  Nordic cooperation on the field of surgery: congress trips, inviting visitors
  • Sakari Orava Fund Research and education related to orthopaedics and traumatology, particularly diagnosis, treatment and prevention of sport injuries
  • Seija, Tapani and Juha Tuominen Fund  Kidney disease research
  • Sirkka-Liisa Peltonen Fund  Research on MS and other autoimmune diseases as well as children’s blood disorders performed
  • Vera Koivumäki Fund  Research in the Faculty of Medicine performed by gifted young researchers and doctoral candidates of limited means
  • Viktor Emil Heikkilä Fund  Research related to rheumatic diseases and other autoimmune diseases
